| The office
of the Directorate General, Defence Estates is the Headqarters
of the Indian Defence Estates Service in the Ministry
of Defence. DGDE provides critical and advisory inputs
to the Services as well as to Ministry of Defence in
formulating policies, Rules and Regulations etc. in respect
of management of defence lands and Cantonment administration
all over India. The DGDE also ensures implementation
of such polices , Rules and Regulations etc.The DGDE
has other important functions to perform like responding
to VIP representations, Parliament Questions, proposals
for amendments to existing legislation on Cantonment
administration and defence land management. The DGDE
has under its administration various field formations
like the Directorates of Defence Estates, Cantonment
Board and Defence Estates Offices. read
